Case Study

192.com offers the most comprehensive and leading online directory of people and businesses in the UK – its rich databases hold more than 900 million records. This wealth of information appeals to the widest possible customer base, with the website receiving 40 million page views and 15 million visits a month. The company operates in a progressive, rapidly evolving market and its technical team supports an exciting roadmap of new mobile and conventional web-based consumer and business products and services.

The Challenge

192.com is technologically, highly advanced and uses the latest, cutting-edge systems. This means that the majority of recruitment drives are looking to attract talent in applicant-driven markets, as the skill sets required by cutting-edge technology are in extremely high demand.

Following a restructure, the company no longer had an internal HR/recruitment function and was looking for a flexible, outsourced partner to support its recruitment activity, in particular for their technology team. This would take away the pressure and time burden from the hiring managers, while managing the agency relationships and applicant tracking.

The Solution

192.com opted for PlusHR’s managed recruitment solution. This provided them with a dedicated, responsive, flexible recruitment specialist which manages agency relationships, including negotiation of favourable terms, applicant tracking and CV submission to line managers, interview logistics and communication-to-offer stage. The resourcing specialist does not operate as a supplier, but acts as an extension to the 192.com team.

For junior technical or non-technical roles such as customer services, 192.com has utilised PlusHR’s direct advertising solution. This included advertising at favourable rates through PlusHR’s advertising partner, utilising PlusHR’s applicant tracking system, as well as application filter questions, CV short-listing, candidate communication and interview logistics. Regular updates also keep the team informed, giving them visibility of the candidate pipelines and costs.

The Result

The time consuming aspect of recruitment is being managed by PlusHR, which saves hiring managers time and effort and alleviates some of their pressure, allowing them to focus on business objectives. Agency suppliers are managed positively and new suppliers have been introduced successfully – at reduced introduction fees.

Throughout this ongoing partnership with 192.com, PlusHR supports the organisation with a view to making the process as pain-free for the team and cost effective as possible. One recent example includes a direct appointment for one of the more junior technical roles, which represented a significant cost saving.
