Our Story

“HR innovation is doing simple stuff well”

PlusHR was founded in 2006 working with the worlds biggest brand names from EMI Music to Hitachi to provide leading HR Consulting services for a range of complex and strategic HR projects. Following this the PlusHR team noticed a gap in the market for innovative HR outsourcing, HR Advisory and recruitment services that offered real commercial value to exciting growing start up’s and ambitious SME’s. More than a decade later PlusHR are one of the UK’s leading HR Consultancy and HR Outsourcing providers with offices in the heart of Central London and in sunny Southampton. Our diverse client portfolio covers small, medium and large businesses across various sectors in regulated financial services, high technology, marketing, media, PR, architecture and design, property management and professional services. We’ve also written the book HR for Small Business for Dummies, to add to our many talents!

 In comparison to other HR outsourcing providers we do not take a one size fits all approach provided by a nameless, faceless call centre often providing scripted advice. We believe that the HR services you need can’t always be packaged into neat little boxes and that’s why we treat every potential client as an individual and create tailored solutions. We can be “hands on” and deal with a whole range of HR issues on your behalf or be there behind the scenes to provide HR advice and guidance. We avoid the dreaded sales pitch, with a confusing pricing structure with numerous “hidden” charges and inflexible 3,5 and 7 year contracts as we know businesses change day by day. Quite simply our pricing structure is transparent working within client budgets on flexible pay as you go, 30 day rolling and 12 month contracts.

We pride ourselves on ensuring quality at every stage by delivering our HR services by a CIPD qualified team of HR and recruitment experts with real industry experience. The HR work undertaken by our HR Managers demonstrate how we work in partnership with the leaders, directors and owners of our client organisations. Day to day employee relation issues are dealt with swiftly and often start with seeking guidance from the client in terms of what outcome they wish to see from a specific issue, i.e. a swift termination or performance improvement plan put in place. At the other end of the scale we often find that we are the custodians of employee centric interventions, simply reminding the client what is the “right” thing to do and being brave enough to tell them that their proposed cause of action is wrong! Some of clients work in highly regulated environments and that means that the HR Management team will need to deal with Remuneration Committees of financial services organisations, or ensure that the incentive arrangements are FSA compliant for example.

As Managing Director for PlusHR, Marc has built a reputation of providing commercially pragmatic HR guidance advice. He has held a number of HR positions from Lloyds TSB, Centrica, Reuters to British American Tobacco. Marc is also the co-author of HR for Small Business for Dummies.

Laura’s expertise are helping businesses reduce absence costs and eliminate employment relation risks. Her focus is on enabling business leaders to retain and develop top performers whilst ensuring that a flexible workforce is in place aligned to business objectives.

Fully Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) qualified, Elaine began her career at Molex plc, then ITV plc in their News Group, where she was responsible for the ITV Meridian, Central and Anglia regions as well as their political bureau in London. Elaine has generalist HR experience within media, telecoms and manufacturing sectors. Specialisms are TUPE, change projects, complex employee relations cases and talent management.
